Sandwell were fortunate to be the only company to host Mr Shot Peener himself, Jack Champaigne, when he visited the United Kingdom.
“We are extremely privileged to have had Jack Champaigne visit us here at Sandwell,” commented technical director, Colin McGrory, “Jack is such an influential character within the industry and we feel that his visit is testament to our specialist skills, hard work and excellent product knowledge in shot peening and surface engineering industry.”.
Jack is the President of Electronics Incorporated (EI), a manufacturer of products that improve the quality and control of shot peening and blast cleaning processes and the first company of its kind to receive FAA recognition. Since 1986, EI have been publishing The Shot Peener, a publication dedicated to sharing information and expanding markets for shot peening and blast cleaning industries.
In addition to promoting products worldwide in the surface finishing industry, Jack is highly committed to education and the distribution of information.
Not only has Jack and EI been successful at distributing information through the magazine, they were also the first to host Shot Peening and Blast Cleaning workshops and have successfully done so in North and South America, Asia, and Europe since 1991. Subsequently, this has led to the introduction of an extensive online library devoted to shot peening and blast cleaning research papers and articles.
Throughout his career, Jack has contributed to the advancement of shot peening by volunteering his time to the International Scientific Committee for Shot Peening, the Surface Enhancement Division of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Aerospace Metals Engineering Committee (AMEC) of the Aerospace Materials Division of SAE.
His efforts and knowledge have seen him be appointed as Chairman of the International Scientific Committee for Shot Peening and currently holds the position of Committee Chairman of the Surface
Enhancement Division of SAE.
In 2008, Jack was involved with founding a new shot peening sub-committee of AMEC and, as Chairman, is presiding over a group of international industry leaders in the hope of updating and creating specifications that will be relevant to today’s shot peening industries.
“It was great to have visited the Sandwell facility on my trip to the United Kingdom. Sandwell are known for pushing surface finishing boundaries with new innovative techniques and it was fantastic to see this first hand,” added Jack Champaigne.
